A Smarter way to Improve Traffic and Transportation Management

The EnSight Edge Solution is a compact, outdoor-rated kit that can be easily installed on buildings, structures, or light poles to achieve the necessary visibility for traffic or parking data collection. We utilize carefully selected off-the-shelf cameras based on location and field of view requirements. These cameras transmit live video feeds to our EnSight Edge computing node, which runs our in-house developed machine learning software to classify and track different modes of transportation – primarily vehicles. It is also possible to scan vehicles’ License Plates for identification and dwell time monitoring. The collected data is then transmitted from the EnSight Edge to the EnSightful Portal, unlocking valuable data intelligence necessary for improved operational planning and decision-making. This includes understanding traffic patterns, vehicle throughput, travel direction, parking area occupancy rates, and dwell times.

At EnSight, we take pride in owning our software and developing our in-house proprietary machine learning technology for object tracking, detection, identification, and counting, which we call Fluid Learning Intelligence (FLI). With the capabilities of FLI, we can distinguish between various vehicle types, including cars, recreational vehicles, semi-trucks, motorcycles, and more. This versatility allows the EnSight Edge to be deployed for a multitude of applications, such as traffic studies for parking facilities and roadways or for locations related to trucking and transportation.

Installation and Network Flexibility

The EnSight Edge kit can be installed in locations with accessible constant power, intermittent line voltage(Photocell controlled light poles), or off the grid using solar power. When constant power is unavailable, the EnSight Edge kit comes equipped with a lithium-ion battery pack to power our edge computing node, ensuring uninterrupted real-time data collection. In cases where intermittent power is not available, there’s no problem; the lithium-ion battery pack can be connected to a solar source for charging. Traffic and vehicle data metrics processed on the EnSight Edge kit are transmitted to the EnSightful portal via a direct internet connection or through cellular LTE. Edge kits can also be provided on a small trailer or temporary telescoping pole allowing one kit to be the cost-effective remedy used in multiple locations.
